Altair Participates in the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation

Altair is excited to participate in the newly established Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) which will be headquartered at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.  Altair will be part of the Composites Virtual Factory Hub (cvfHUB) team which will be led by Purdue University.  The cvfHUB will offer modeling and simulation tools, best practices, and technical support to help the industry  shorten the product development cycle and decrease the cost of composites manufacturing while allowing more time for innovation throughout the entire supply chain.  Altair will particularly work closely with the Automotive industry to help them develop “greener cars” through the adoption of composites.  Altair’s extensive experience in the Automotive industry coupled with our CAE tools to design, analyze, and optimize composite structures will be leveraged to help the composites industry continue to grow into new markets.  For someone who has been involved in the composites industry for over 30 years, this is truly a historic opportunity for the industry.

Bob has degrees from MIT, Virginia Tech, and University of Dayton with a focus on Aerospace Composites. His current role is to define the strategic direction of Altair to meet the growing and changing needs of the Additive Manufacturing market including laminated composites. He is an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington where he teaches on the topic of Additive Manufacturing for Aerospace Applications.He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and webinars, and a frequent author of technical papers, articles, and trade publications.
