Bad Weather Not Enough to Stop Team Altair in Bike MS

Three Team Altair BIKE MS riders became very wet on June 9-10 while riding for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in the Bike MS: Great Lakes West Michigan Breakaway! We know that our participation helps drive MS research forward faster, and deliver services to those who face the challenges of MS every day so they can live their best lives. Even strong rain doesn’t stop this Team!

These incredibly determined Altair employees rode in extreme conditions when it was raining so hard, they could barely see 10 feet in front of them! Then, on Sunday, it was rainy and windy! The event started at the Dow Center, Hope College and then traversed through Saugatuck, Fennville, alongside Lake Michigan and back to the Dow Center. There is even a beautiful winery along the way, serving as a “rest stop” in Fennville! Thankfully, this entire event is fully-supported with medical, bike maintenance, and SAG (Support and Guidance) teams to help the riders throughout the event, so everyone finished safe and sound!

Dragi Gasevski, a veteran rider, rode both Saturday & Sunday – and 200 miles are now added to his yearly total! Congrats Dragi!

Christopher Jorgensen, a new rider for this event, rode Saturday, and completed 100 miles (for the first time) with motivation/inspiration/determination from guess who – Dragi! 😊 And, even more incredible – on a MOUNTAIN bike! Way to go Chris!

Janice Jorgensen, Chris’s wife and a new rider for this event, rode Saturday, completed 50 miles, also on a MOUNTAIN bike!! Great job Janice!

Lence Gasevski, my daughter Kendall and I, volunteered each day at the finish line, cheering people in and handing out medals to the riders. For some reason it hardly rained on us at the Dow!

It was not a total rain-out though, as we were able to enjoy a nice [and dry] dinner both Friday and Saturday night, in Holland.

More stories and pictures from this weekend can be found on Facebook – come “like” us, too! Team Altair has currently raised $972 for this specific event, if you would like to help and donate to our Team, and the MS Society, please visit here!

I would also like to thank again, our partner/sponsors for helping Team Altair and the National MS Society in our fundraising efforts! Every year, we raise over $10,000 for the MS Society. Ridley’s Bakery Café, Shield’s Pizzeria, A-Z Vending (Avanti Markets), the Detroit Zoo, Law Office of Leila Freijy, and Della’s Maple Lane Florist have been very generous and supportive of Team Altair over the last several years! We could not reach our goals without their help!

Thank you!
